Since the pandemic, Irish businesses have faced a new set of IT Security challenges like digital transformation, remote working, and the constant threat of cyber attacks. With these new challenges comes a huge demand for IT Security experts. And to protect our businesses in the future, we need to develop a new wave of IT Security champions. CommSec is supporting this cause by becoming a main sponsor of Team Ireland.
Team Ireland is participating in the sixth edition of the European Cyber Security Challenge (ECSC) – the annual European event that brings together young talent from across Europe to have fun and compete in cyber security. Think of it as the Eurovision of cyber security. This year the event is being held in Prague, Czech Republic, and will run from September 28th to October 1st.
Top cyber talent from each participating country will meet in Prague to network and collaborate and finally compete against each other. Contestants will be challenged in solving security-related tasks from domains such as web security, mobile security, crypto puzzles, reverse engineering, and forensics and in the process collect points for solving them.
John Killilea, CTO at CommSec, remarks,” I want to congratulate Team Ireland, and their manager Mark Lane (Lecturer in Dublin TU), for qualifying and achieving their place among the best in Europe. A big part of our ethos at CommSec is developing IT security skills among younger generations. We will always get behind any initiative that promotes these skills to a wider community”.
CommSec wishes Team Ireland the very best of luck in Prague and will be rooting for them every step of the way.
