CommSec and Fortinet Provide Solution To Protect Manufacturing Supply Chains from Cyber-Attacks

Dublin-based MSSP, CommSec, provider of managed cyber security services including SOC as a Service, penetration testing, and vulnerability scanning to Irish companies, is partnering with Cyber Security solutions vendor Fortinet to provide next-generation Operational Technology (OT) security. The solution will be showcased at the National Manufacturing & Supply Chain Expo takes place on the 25 and 26th of May taking place at the RDS Simmonscourt. The event is incorporating the IoT Connect Live and Industry 4.0 conferences to help organisations manage their IT security in the area of connected manufacturing technology and digital supply chains.

Gartner defines operational technology (OT) as hardware and software that detects or causes a change through the direct monitoring and/or control of physical devices, processes, and events in asset-centric enterprises, particularly in production and operations.

CommSec CEO David McNamara comments “the world has moved on since the pandemic and so have cybercriminals. Now every connected device is a potential vulnerability waiting to be exploited. Irish manufacturers have an opportunity to implement a holistic approach to OT Security. For example, they should start by securing everything that is on-site and in the cloud. After that, organisations must look at their supply chains and make sure their suppliers have measures in place to protect against vulnerabilities.”

Sales Director at CommSec, Joe Montgomery remarks, “Fortinet offers an integrated OT-IT security platform that manages and protects all endpoints, devices, and networks. It also allows the IT department to set a level of secure access to prevent any unauthorised access to critical IT resources or data. CommSec puts another layer of security on top of that by actively monitoring a facility’s IT Security in our SOC to ensure no gaps emerge, identify any vulnerabilities, and remediate any issues that have an operational risk to that company”.

David McNamara is speaking at the IOT event on the 25th of May at 2.40 pm to highlight the importance of building resilience when securing the IT supply chain.
